85% of Canadians agree that we have the right to live in a healthy environment, and that that right needs to be enshrined in The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Canadians are so GREAT! All my life, ever since 1961 when my dad read Rachel Carsons book, Silent Spring, my family has been aware of the threats to our health caused by pollution. We stopped using pesticides and herbicides on the farm. We seek out clean sources of food and water and/or grow it ourselves. Some things have gotten better. DDT was banned - but Glyphosate and Nicotinoids are worse and are still being used. Our current federal government is de-regulating, allowing for more destruction and poisoning. Its Time to Decide - and get behind our right to a clean and healthy environment. Obviously, if this right is not made a part of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms so that future governments cant deregulate, the risks and concerns about the future will continue to haunt us. Action speaks - its the only way we are going to articulate real change.
