8th to 12th July 2013 8th July 2013 “Because you have made the Lord your refuge, the Most High your habitation, no evil shall befall you, no scourge come near your tent.” Ps 91:9-10 There is a reason for every difficulty that comes our way. God uses those difficulties to strengthen our faith, and make Him our refuge. Reading the OT we will realize how God could have kept real and threatening situations away from many people, but He did not, He allowed it, and because they made Him their refuge, they were not destroyed but rather became an example for all of us. Let us be sure, that none of the difficulty we face each day would be in our lives, without God allowing it!! Let us trust Him, and make Him our hiding place in times of trouble. 9th July 2013 “Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years. And had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.” Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction.” Mark 5:25-29 The heart of Jesus is moved with pity and compassion for this woman who was suffering for twelve years. She had spent all her money, with no good result. When she had nothing left, no one else to turn to, and no more options, she turned to Jesus. And instead of condemning her for coming to Him last, He healed her instantly! Often in times of great stress, we turn to many things, and only when we have no more options, we turn to Jesus, yet He reaches out to us and steadies us, and we realize He is all we need! He never condemns, He heals. Such is the love of our God. 10th July 2013 While He was still speaking, some came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house who said “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?” As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid, only believe.” Mark 5:35-36 Some people came to tell the ruler of the synagogue, that he was faced with a hopeless situation. Jesus encouraged the ruler saying “do not be afraid, only believe” and the man clung to those words. When he got home and saw confusion and heard the noise of the mourners, he continued to cling to what Jesus said, and because of his faith he was rewarded with the healing of his child. In our situation today, Jesus says the same words to us too “Do not be afraid, only believe” 11th July 2013 “Therefore, do not worry, saying ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or “what will we wear?’ For it is the Gentiles who strive for all these things; and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But strive first for the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” Matthew 6:31-33 How do we live in today’s world, with all the crazy things happening around us? Our lives are often driven by worry….yet Jesus is asking us not to make worry the driving force of our lives. Wanting to have our own way! Wanting and working for power, status and money! All these things and more drive us to worry….the focus is us! But God says and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things implying that the HE is the Giver of all we seek, and HE will give us all we seek, and He controls everything…so the focus should be HIM….He has created us for HIMSELF, He has a plan for each of us, and only when we walk in HIS plan will we find peace….if not worry will drive our lives. 12th July 2013 “In His hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of every human being.” Job 12:10 We continue to breathe because He allows us to. If God controls all, and every living thing is in His hands, there lies the reason for us not to worry and fret about life. Contrary to what the world is saying to us, or what media tell us, or how well educated we are, God is controlling our life. He allows the good to happen, and He allows the negative to happen too. Everything begins with Him, continues with Him, and finally ends with Him and in Him. Let us spend time each day, trying to be relationship with God, involving Him in all we do, and facing all we need to with Him.
