9-11 UPDATE Good evening, my friends and fellow travelers. Once - TopicsExpress

9-11 UPDATE Good evening, my friends and fellow travelers. Once again we bow our heads in quiet reverence and pray for the families of the almost 3000 victims killed this day 13 years ago. There is no argument the events of that day were acts of terrorism. Three buildings of the World Trade Center were brought down in New York, and an attack on the Pentagon in Washington DC stunned Americans and the world. Another jetliner crashed in Pennsylvania that was allegedly heading for the Capitol Building but was commandeered by its passengers and crashed killing all aboard. It was a dark day for the country and the pain lingers on for all the families involved. But now, 13 years later, we can see and examine the aftermath of that fateful day, and we find the sorrow doesnt end with the initial victims. After 9-11 we went to war in Iraq and Afghanistan in search of the perpetrators. Many thousands of lives were lost and American blood spilled in these conflicts, as well as trillions of dollars spent engaging the enemy. We have since left Iraq and are planning to leave Afghanistan next year. But are we any better off? We have seen a resurgence of al Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood, and now the rise of ISIS. The Middle East is in turmoil. The Taliban is just lying low waiting for us to depart when theyll take back control of Afghanistan. A war weary and broke America can just watch as once again our leaders drag us back into more hostilities. We have suffered even more on the domestic front. Paramilitary agencies were created in 9-11s wake. The Department of Homeland Security now treats American citizens as though they are the enemy. In fact, patriotic Americans who would question their authority are listed higher on their terrorist lists than actual terrorists, domestic terrorists we are called. The TSA hires criminals to violate us at all airports and various checkpoints and events across the country. The reports of their abuse to citizens of all walks of life is pathetic, vile in some cases, and widespread. The NSA has built new facilities across the country, most notably in Utah and has cranked up their spying on everybody to include all calls, texts, emails, and Internet activities, not just the meta-data they claim. Just about every government agency you can name has begun arming themselves to the teeth producing a shortage of ammo to regular citizens. Washington is literally giving our police departments military equipment and training turning us into a fearful population living in a police state. The US Constitution is little more than noble words scribbled on 200 year-old parchment. Our president has no respect for the law of the land or any laws, for that fact. The Patriot Acts effectively took away most of our rights given by God and protected by the Constitution. Every year a new version of the NDAA, National Defense Authorization Act, turns each person in this country into a criminal and gives our government, particularly the executive branch, the authority to arrest and indefinitely detain without due process any citizen the president sees fit. And through executive action he can seize our property, our bank accounts, even our food. Many other atrocities have happened since 9-11, but those are a few major ones. Yes, 9-11 was tragic and still is. But most importantly, it was the day that America as we once knew it, died. Of course, many questions about the actual events of that day are surfacing, conspiracy theories, hidden information, and more professionals who know their stuff trying to bring the truth forward. Here, I will not dwell on these as I dont think it makes a difference at this point (Man, I sound like Hillary!) My point is 9-11 was a turning point for this country and maybe even the point of no return. So my friends, mourn for the dead but pray for the living. Our bed has been made and all of us must lay in it.
