9-11....one of the most horrific and tragic events of our generation. Having been a Firefighter my heart ached for those who rushed and their families...but this story is about a 5 minute phone call....that would forever change the Barger family and send three sons to Iraq or Agfanistan doing 5 tours of duty. 36 hours after the Twin Towers were hit the phone rang. I was Chris..... Dad I got only 5 minutes to talk to you.....I cant tell you were Im going or when I will be home....(Chris was a recon-sniper in The United States Marines. He could put a round thru a deck of cards from over 1500 yards...Chris would be the sniper part of a Black Opps Unit that parachuted into Afganistan. Their mission was to call in the first air strikes that started The War on Terror...his team would be picked up by Black Hawk helicopter and placed on the deck of the Carrier Carl Vincent....debriefed....taken back to base and do it all over again.....his missions were classified so the boys and I couldnt tell anyone...I did confine in Pastor Bob Methany the minister of our church at the time)....Chris then proceeded to tell me where his car was an his personal items...he asked how the boys were doing...then... Dad my time is up............... Dad I love you............Chris I love you..........................Chris now lives in West Milton and if by chance you bump into him...reach you hand out say I saw those Wings pinned to your chest and thank him for his service.
