9/12/2014 Fri 3:00 PM, NC. USA After experiencing much during a years visit to Africa around age 5 or so, I would return to India, determined to pursue renunciation from this world of suffering. The opportunity to follow in Buddhas footsteps, would present itself when my two 5 and 3 yr old cousins and my aunt from Himachal, would visit our home in Chandigarh. Rita and I, would take what seemed a necessary step...leaving home, dedicating our selves, in the quest for the Holiest of Hollies, our original source of all truth, love, light and life itself. Reluctantly, we would let 3 yr old Dolly accompany us. Our pilgrimage would take many turns, starting with Dolly cry for her mother, after just ONE day of walking and fasting. We would find ourselves by a well, surrounded by mango trees, in a near by village, in the midst of the approaching darkness of the night, accompanied by a storm. What would follow, would be a trail of answered prayers, unfortunately, cutting our life long pilgrimage short to an overnight stay at the milkmans home, only to be escorted back at dawn, to our grief stricken parents and freshly renounced comforts. However, Rita and I knew that we had done our part and the great mystery itself, would know our desire and reveal the next step. Right after my cousins would leave to go back home, Chameli would reveal just for a moment , an image of one in whom I would recognize, my greatest friend. To me, a blessing from one whose footsteps we had followed...the great compassionate Buddha himself.....
