9.21.14 UPDATE RE: LA PORTE ANIMAL SHELTER Location: 1201 S. 4th Street, La Porte, TX Contact: 281-842-3700 This past week, we were successful in the adoptions of one of the white Pibble pups, the blue Pibble pup, and - as of yesterday - the Brittany mix. Three more beautiful lives have been spared thanks to the compassionate families who were willing to give these dogs a second chance. As of yesterday afternoon, however, the shelter only had three open kennels. It brings to the forefront the gratitude I feel towards the families who adopted the three dogs that went home. Without those dogs leaving, lives would have been lost due to lack of space. Having only three open kennels, and a full day ahead of us, is not good news. We need more help -- more adoptions and rescue assistance. Not one of the dogs at the shelter has been picked up by rescue which makes me wonder if our networking efforts are reaching some of the groups which may be able to help out? I hope to be at the shelter in a couple of hours to photograph some of the newcomers. I am told that, among others, the following dogs have come in and are ready to go: 1. An adorable black/white Border Collie mix puppy -- small and very young. 2. A Bulldog mix puppy, estimated to be 4-5 months old. One officer believes the pup is an American Bulldog mix. The other identifies it as an English Bulldog mix. Either way, they say shes ADORABLE! 3. Yesterday, a Greyhound mix was brought in. Male, neutered, very friendly. If you are missing a dog matching this description, PLEASE contact the shelter immediately to pick him up. The one remaining white/brown female Pit mix pup remains and, as an owner-surrender and longer-term resident of the shelter, ranks high on the Code Red list. She is pictured in the LP album featured on our page and is in desperate need of sharing, nationwide, with rescue groups or adoptive families which may be able to help her. I know that all of you support NUMEROUS rescue groups, all of which appreciate your help immensely. The need networking assistance, foster homes and donations is overwhelming. We, too, appreciate your efforts and pray that your compassion and commitment to Gods creatures is returned to you ten-fold in all that you do.
