Mursaleen is concerned about the growing trends of westernization among women in Kashmir and terms it ‘ironic’ that with jeans and T-shirts; hijab is being used to cover the head. “The immortality in Kashmir is growing and the Islamic concepts and values are being undermined. The basic reason for the Fitna is the emergence of western style in Muslim women,” said Murcyleen who at present is pursuing her masters in Islamic studies from correspondence in Saudi. Narrating how she trod the just path, she said that she was born and brought up in Mumbai- the city of dreams. After completing her graduation, she asked her father to permit her for joining the bollywood. “I was a complete westernized girl adopting the very style and the way of living. My father was a close friend of late Yash Chopra. He introduced me to him and I started working at Yash Raj Films as the assistant director. My first project was Salman Khan Starrer Ek Tha Tiger. Everyone had to admit my skills in the film making. Later on during the making of Jab Tak Hae Jaan, Yash Chopra passed away. That was the real shock for me as he was like my grandfather.” Mursaleen said that she was offered work in YRF under Maneesh Sharma. “They crew tested me for film. I was asked to face the cameras but something somewhere in me rebuked my conscience. I stood in front of the lights like a dead one sans any expressions and understood that the city is hell bent upon exposing women at the worst. I left for my home and did nothing for a long. Later I got a book written by Dr Zakir Naik. The script changed me within. I told my father that I am joining IRF. I met wife of DR Naik (Farhat Aapa). I joined the school and for six months, my dress and my lifestyle didn’t change but later I started covering myself with Hijab. Life changed and I can now say with certainty that the galomorious life of films is no way a right choice for a women. Only Islam can give women regard, respect and status.” When asked how much better the Islamic way of life is than that of the bollywood- considered by many as life of dreams, she said ,’one thousand times. Islam is the best way of living; nothing would be its substitute.’ (KNS) [9:30PM, 06/08/2014] +91 95 96 523254: Karra raises PM’s scholarship issue in Rajya Sabha Srinagar, Aug 6 (KNS): Tariq Hameed Karra, Member Parliament in the Lok Sabha today made this statement during Zero Hour regarding Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme for J&K. According to this statement issued: “Madam Speaker, taking advantage of the Zero Hour, I would like to bring the attention of this august House to a very grave situation perpetrated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) whereby this unilateral order of withholding the fee amount sanctioned for at least 5000 students of Jammu & Kashmir studying in various colleges in India under the Prime Ministers Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS), has jeopardized their career. Madam, you would be remembering that 2010 witnessed deadliest unrest in Kashmir when the State Govt. in chair did not hesitate to gun down around 120 unarmed young boys. And in order to evaluate the causes and reasons for such unrest, an Expert Group was constituted by the Prime Minister on 18 August 2010. The Expert Group had suggested facilitating higher/ technical education for young boys and girls from Kashmir with financial assistance under PMSSS. The objective of this scheme was to provide tuition fee, hostel fee, cost of books and other incidental charges to students belonging to Jammu & Kashmir who, after passing Class XII or equivalent examination, secure admission in Government colleges/institutions and other select institutions outside the State. The scheme was launched with much fanfare in 2011. In the first year, only 38 students availed the benefit but in 2012-13 at least 5000 students were admitted to various colleges of India. Madam due to withholding of PMSSS to these students, the parents in an effort to save the career of their children are applying for loans on higher interest rates while some of them have sold their ancestral properties. Unilaterally with- holding of PMSSS has forced most of these students to leave their studies midway and return to their home. One student has told me that her parents sent him for nursing course under PMSSS. The course otherwise was unaffordable for him. However, the scheme has proved a damp squib and she is forced to rethink on continuing his studies as he has no source of income to pay the college fee. She told me that her father is a laborer earning Rs 200 a day. “He often remains ill and there is no other source of income for us. How can I deposit lakhs of rupees in college as a fee now,” she told me. Madam, colleges entertained students from J&K on the pretext that they would get fee and other expenses reimbursed from the MHRD under PMSSS. As the MHRD has not released the sanctioned amount, colleges are forcing the aggrieved students to either deposit fee or leave college. Under the PMSSS, many low profile colleges, in blatant violation of rules, had enrolled scores of students from Kashmir for various courses to “usurp” the scholarship money. “These colleges preferred to enroll Kashmiri students under PMSSS after various local NGOs approached them with the assurance that Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) would pay their fees. It is as such requested that Ministry of Human Resource Development may take the call and release the withheld fees for all such students as per the stated policy so as to save career of thousands of Kashmiri students. In a detailed interview to The Kashmir Magazine, Geelani said that it is the moral responsibility of every Pakistani citizen to help Kashmir cause, “It is the responsibility of every Pak citizen to raise voice for Kashmir.” The Hurriyat (G) chairman stated that his amalgam is yet to take final call over the reports of Islamic State in Iraq and the declaration of Al- Baghdadi as the Caliph. “Nothing can be said about this situation yet. We have to see whether those persons who claim to have established the caliphate in Iraq are that much qualified or not. We must understand that if anyone declares himself as an Islamic caliph meets those requirements? We as Muslims know the glorious period of four pious caliphs of Islam in the past. It has to be ascertained whether the present order meets the past or not.” Geelani quoted by the news magazine further remarked, “As far as our stand is concerned, we will keep wait and watch policy vis-à-vis the situation in Iraq. Do they meet the requirements of the caliphate establishment? When asked about the affects of the same upon Kashmir situation, Gelaani guarded in his words stated, “It will be their principle to strive for the rights of the oppressed Muslim world. If you read Quran you will find what is written there.” Geealni stated that he is ready to accept Kashmir’s independent status if the same is not under the purview of Indian constitution. “Our stand is clear. We want India to fulfill its promises it made to the people of Kashmir in the United Nations. If the same are not implemented, then the dialogue over the issue is conditional. India, Pakistan and resistance leadership of Kashmir must sit together and this exercise should be done under the purview of United Nations or any third friendly country. And later by consensus, if Independent status of Kashmir emerges as a solution, we are ready to accept that also. But at the same time, any solution is not acceptable of Kashmir that would be under the purview of Indian constitution.” The Hurriyat (G) chairman according to the news magazine also asked all the pro-freedom parties to unanimously issue poll boycott call against the upcoming state elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
