9/30 Update on Justin: It has been another great day, with more - TopicsExpress

9/30 Update on Justin: It has been another great day, with more progression in the right direction! His Coumadin level is now therapeutic in his blood, so they were able to stop his IV Heparin drip. The infectious disease dr said today that things are still looking great, and that whenever he is able to come home, they will just switch his IV antibiotics to pill form, which he only needs to continue through this coming Sunday at this point. This means that he will NOT have to come home with a PICC line like they had told us in the beginning :). Also, the plan has been to probably go home with his last and final chest tube that has the continuous air leak. The doctor told him it would probably be a couple more weeks before it would heal. Last night Justin and I were talking about how nice it would be for it to heal up and not have to go home with it. Yall, I am not kidding. This morning it had stopped bubbling, which means that more than likely the hole has healed! Justin looked at me this morning and said I prayed last night that it would heal. :) We got the nurse to come look at it, and they already had a chest x ray ordered, so after the X-ray, the dr came by after I had already left, and took the chest tube off of suction from the wall, and told Justin that they would watch it over night. If he had any pain or shortness of breath to let them know, incase the tube is clogged or something, but that they will repeat the chest X-ray in the morning, and if it doesnt show any further air leak, then the tube will come out tomorrow……… and then… I cant even believe I am typing this… He will get to come HOME on Thursday!!!!! Praise God! It doesnt even feel real just yet!!! I get goosebumps just typing this :). I cant express enough how thankful we are for your prayers. God has had his hand in this from the beginning. He has worked in our lives, in our hearts, and more. I would like to ask yall to pray tonight, that Justin will not have any problems with his left lung / the chest tube tonight, and that it will get to come out tomorrow. I cant wait to get him home :) !!!! On a side note, Justin was able to have his first little visitor today, now that he was out of ICU. His parents picked Kenzie up on their way back to the hospital this morning, so daddy and daughter were reunited after almost a month away from each other! It was beautiful! :) We will let yall know when we are taking more visitors. At this point, we will probably wait until he gets home, since we are almost there!!! Thank yall again! God bless all of you!!!!
