9 Oct Karangahake Mt loop, clockwise. Another gusty damp day that we hid from in the bush. We did skip the swim. I guess the non swimmers could have sheltered in the tunnel with the weta. An easy walk starting at the main car park, following the crown track, dubbo, line 7 ( lunch stop before rounding onto the windy side) , right turn to the summit, down the steep north face and crossing the creek in Scotsman Valley back to the car park. 4.1/2 hr walk including breaks with a mixed group of 18. As is usual when on the summit the cloud was too thick to see anything but as we descended it dissipated, by the time we headed over the road for coffee the trig was clear for all to see. 14.7 km 50 m to 550 m. Total ascent 650 meters.
