9. Prisoners Director: Dennis Villeneuve. Writer: Aaron Guzikowski. Cast: Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis, Paul Dano and Melissa Leo. Plot: When Keller Dovers daughter and her friend go missing, he takes matters into his own hands as the police pursue multiple leads and the pressure mounts. But just how far will this desperate father go to protect his family? Why I like it? Strong performances by an amazing cast (especially Jackman, Gyllenhaal, Leo and Dano) Dark, gripping and quite a great thriller, with a pace, that though sometimes it seems to slow down more than it has to, its back on its feet thanks to its characters development. Prisoners is what many thrillers lack: a solid story, with characters that are ambiguous to the audience.
