9) So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. 10) Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith. (Galatians 6:9-10 NLT) Make it your goal every day to do something good for at least one other person. That may sound trivial and empty, but it may lead you into the sovereign work of the Holy Spirit. Why? Because the two verses quoted above follows the context of walking in the Spirit (5:16), the fruit of the Spirit (5:22-23) and sowing to the Spirit (6:8). No wonder both verses specifically talk about doing good for others. Thats not very spiritual you say. What is the alternative? Do you think it is spiritual to be self-centered or rude to others? Is the Spirit working through you when you are irritable, angry or intensionally harmful to others? I actually believe that intentional good deeds can prime the pump into an outpouring of a miraculous work of God. Some of the most amazing stories of God working through His people started with a small good deed to a stranger. Never underestimate the power of a smile, cheerful greeting or lending a hand. Here is a crazy little formula, Look for a need, do a good deed and then follow the lead and see where God takes it! Dont be surprised if it blossoms into a miracle.
