900TH AIR FORCE WEATHER GROUP CELEBRATES ITS 53RD ANNIVERSARY COL LAURO N TIANCHON PAF (GSC) Group Commander, 900th Air Force Weather Group (AFWG) led the celebration of its 53rd Founding Anniversary last December 29 2014 (Monday) at PAFAC Col Jesus Villamor Air Base, Pasay City by highlighting their achievements throughout the year, such as: -Conduct of rainmaking operations at Magat Dam, Cauayan, Isabela; employment of Cloud Seeding Technician to Bureau of Soils and Water Management. (BSWM) for rain making mission at Pantabangan Dam and Water Shed -Conduct of 4,557 weather briefings during conferences, 910 weather briefings to VIPs, 94 weather briefings to foreign pilots and 22,309 weather briefings to local pilots -Conduct of lectures on topics related to weather to 54 different PAF and AFP Units -Efforts on the proposed Extension of Workstation of Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) Forecasting Center at 900TH AFWG -Establishment of three new Weather Elements at Pulacan, Pagadian City, Bacolod City and GHQ, Camp Aguinaldo - and Installation of five Weather Monitor Vantage Pro 2 in different weather stations and calibration of seven weather instruments at different weather stations. During the celebration, special awards were presented to: CPT VON RYAN P TIMBANG PAF – Officer of the Year Tsg Sherwin C Fabro PAF – NCO of the Year SgtAnalyn B Padilla PAF- AM of the Year 902nd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron – Squadron of the Year Mrs. Miriam F Pili – Civilian Employee of the Year Recognition were also given to 410th Maintenance Wing, Air Education and Training Command, PAG-ASA and BSWM. The event was graced by MGEN EDGAR R FALLORINA AFP, VICE COMMANDER, PAF as the Guest of Honor together with Mrs. Erica Juliana T. Fallorina as Special Guest. In his speech, MGEN FALLORINA urged them to take the lead in advocating efforts to effectively mitigate or delay the impact of the dangers of climate change and be the first and foremost unit in the AFP as weather forecasters.
