911Programs Fire Training FEBRUARY DRILL NIGHT “First Due at the Strip Mall” Date: Tuesday February 3, 2015 Time: 6:00pm Location: 175 Metro Center Blvd, Warwick RI Presenter: Capt. David Destifano, North Providence Fire Department. Capt. David DeStefano is a 26 year veteran of the North Providence Fire Department. He currently serves as Captain of Ladder Co. 1. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. DeStefano has also been an instructor for the RI Fire Academy for 16 years. He regularly appears as a featured contributor on the Fire Engineering website and magazine. He serves as a technical writer for IFSTA and is in the process of writing his third manual. Program Topic: First Due at the Strip Mall- 2 hour cognitive lesson plan discusses the construction, layout, and tactical challenges associated with firefighting in strip mall occupancies. Instructor will address Forcible entry, ventilation, fire attack, and fire spread in attached exposures. Students will gain an understanding of the unique hazards posed by the construction, contents, and security features commonly found in the strip mall occupancies of virtually all jurisdictions.
