#9311-A really long post but straight from my heart. Those were still early days in Infy as we were sorting out the Initial admin classes at Mysore. Life was as usual and the feel from college to corporate life was still not there apart from the fact that we stayed in a 5 star property. I first saw her near the Food Court 1 ( Kamath restaurant) in Mysore. It was love at first sight, and was amazed to see her ( perfect in every appearance metrics). With lots of curiosity in my mind, went back to my room. A week passed by, and was not able to locate her in campus. The SGT selection was going on, thought it was worth it to get to know more people on campus to ease my search! Got selected, and I saw her as a member , too much to my happiness. All dreams shattered as I came to know that she had a boyfriend who had a 2+ exp in Infy. We became good friends over time and had a few nearby group outings to Coorg and Ooty. Those days were fun and I still wanted to be with her. Training was over, I could never speak my heart out! ( actually did never want to hurt her feelings) and moved to Bangalore. She got Mysore as her location and it seemed all set for her! we stayed friends but communications were less frequent. It had been 6 months in Bangalore and all of a sudden I was sent to Hyderabad for a couple of weeks training. To my utter surprise/ delight, I saw her in the Infy campus. She still had the gracious presence, we met, spoke to each other and I came to know that they had broken off ( the guy cited he couldnt marry her because he was a Hindu, she was a Muslim... So no point continuing). Literally she had tears in her yes. This was a first of its own kind for me, and I hardly knew how to handle a situation like this. After some time and a bit of talking, I was able to console her. Left Bangalore even without letting her know that I still loved her. I got into a good B school same year and continued with my studies. We used to talk but not much, she was doing quite well with Infy. Got placed into an online retailer at Hyderabad post my MBA. The day I got my first salary, picked up the phone and dialled my father. With great courage, I was able to ask whether my parents would be annoyed if I married a Muslim lady. Though my mother was a bit hesitant, my father convinced me that it doesnt matter if she is of a different religion. You should have immense love and mutual respect between each other, and if my son is happy ... We are happy. I was so much relieved. I took an auto rickshaw, and reached her home at 8:30PM in the night just to let her know that I loved her and come what may will always be there for her. She was staying with her parents and we couldnt talk properly. Finally I proposed her, and we never spoke for the next 10 days. I sought my parents advice in here who were quite generous to fly down immediately to help me out. The meetings with her family took place, and everything went on smoothly ( quite opposite to what I had thought). We are happily married now and I love her even more. We have 2 children, Kiara and Raheem! I wasnt a daring guy ever, and never followed my heart, instead always took sensible decisions to make sure everyone around is happy. One bold step and a giant leap for happiness and self satisfaction ( I didnt give up, tried my best to get my life). YoJ 2006 YoL 2007
