948p 11/21 | Good evening Southwestern VA! TODAY: Clouds dominated most of our region for a good part of the day. High temperatures ranged in the upper 40s to mid 50s with a calm wind out of the east/southeast in areas west of the Blue Ridge, with a more northern/northeastern direction for areas east of the Blue Ridge. TONIGHT: A chance of some drizzle makes its way into our region later tonight and into early tomorrow morning. Also expect cloudy conditions and low temperatures to be somewhere in the low to mid 40s this evening. FRIDAY: Tomorrow looks to continue the threat of a stray rain shower or two in the afternoon hours for areas west of the Blue Ridge. Otherwise, our Friday forecast will include temperatures in the mid to upper 60s with cloudy conditions for the entire region. LOOKING AHEAD: Rain showers are likely Friday evening ahead of our next big cold front. Temperatures will be in the mid 40s to low 50s with winds out of the northwest around 10 mph. Look for any rain to make its way out of our region by the early afternoon hours on Saturday. Temperatures will drop rather sharply behind the front, as we can plan on highs to be in the upper 40s west of the Blue Ridge and around 60 in places east of the Blue Ridge. Partly to mostly cloudy skies are also expected Saturday, with winds increasing out of the northwest between 10 and 15 mph (gusts as high as 30 mph). Clearing skies Saturday evening will allow for our temperatures to drop into the mid 20s, with a northwestern wind between 15 and 20 mph, gusting as high as 38 mph, also possible. Dont be surprised to see wind chill values make their way into the single digits in areas primarily west of the Blue Ridge as well Saturday evening. Sunny and cold is the story for Sunday, as high temperatures will range in the lower to upper 30s. Have a great evening! (Forecaster Nick)
