960 La Brea Avenue, West Hollywood, Ca. has recently undergone adaptive reuse. Its been renovated and an addition made to its south side. (This is the large concrete structure across from Target.) The 1933 building at La Brea and Romaine has been home to a General Motors showroom, retail, offices and art galleries. And most recently the building housed art installations from Mr. Brainwash, the Banksy protege. Here are some AMAZING before-and-after pictures of the exterior and interior of the building - plus a rendering of what the developer had planned to do with the site in 2012. (Thank you BMB for not building that and doing adaptive reuse instead!) BMB hopes to lease the revamped space to creative or production companies. The creative economy craves old buildings -- Save the SMB Streamline Moderne! (Thanks: cbre, Larchmont Buzz, Orangesandavocados & Beverlypress!)
