99% positive that Kenzie has kennel cough :( Took her to the vet - TopicsExpress

99% positive that Kenzie has kennel cough :( Took her to the vet this morning and had to stay outside due to how contagious it is. There have been alot of cases at my vets office. A local daycare had a huge outbreak that lasted for weeks. I have a client whose dog became infected just from getting groomed there. Kenzie has not been around any other dogs.. no kennels... no dog parks... no dogs... pretty sure it was passed via a friend of mine who was exposed... most likely on her shoes... then to my shoes... then to Kenzie... my exposure was a week ago so the timeline is right. No blaming my friend here... who couldve known? Our vet thought this was a likely possibility as well. Im just posting this to let peeps know how totally contagious this strain of kennel cough most likely is! I was up all night doing a protocol of colloidal silver in my homemade turkey heart blood broth...she loves that!!!! Raw honey for the inflammation of the throat and it also has healing properties.... raw coconut oil.... and thank goodness I am hooked up with this new company and have the herbal products here.... Glacier Peak Gold... anti-viral/anti-fungal.... started her on that along with our Immunity Boosting product!!! I was really pleased that my vet... Dr. Beth at Portland Vet Clinic... was very supportive the protocol I am using. She sent me home with a couple of additional meds.... if needed.... Im also treating my other 2 girlys... so far they dont seem to be affected by it! They are much younger and have some seriously strong immune systems. Kenzie is older and has been showing her age recently. That said... it was a very sudden onset... last night.... intermittent spells of a hacking... honking type cough that ends in wretching... she was producing white foamy phlegm but not as much of that now. My vet was pleased that it seems to be...so far... a more mild case due to my quick response with my arsenal of holistic goodies! Paws crossed the other two dont get it and Ill be naturally disinfecting my house from top to bottom!!! Reason I am posting this is so that anybody that hasnt had experience with kennel cough might know what to look for now. In all of my years of having dogs.... I have never experienced this and its very odd due to the fact that Kenzie isnt around other dogs....which is how this is usually spread. In my mind...its just evidence that the viruses out there are getting stronger and more resilient!!!! Vet did not prescribe an antibiotic, at this time, because its a virus... and antibiotics dont touch a virus. If a secondary bacterial infections invades... then the antibiotic comes in but hopefully that wont happen!
