A 19-year-old Boise man could be charged with malicious injury to property after causing as much as $20,000 worth of damage to a friend’s garage after a night of drinking last weekend. The man told an Ada County Sheriff’s detective he spray painted the walls of the garage, poured liquid on top of a motorcycle and SUV and threw glue inside a car at a South Ada County home in the early morning hours of July 6. The man also told detectives he drank too much white wine before he did the vandalism and “blacked out” —only partially remembering what he did. The man was part of a group of friends who were having a party at the home in the Columbia/Cloverdale roads neighborhood Saturday night. He stayed behind when the rest of people there decided to go to Los Betos to get some food. When the person who was hosting the party came back from Los Betos, he saw the man leave, discovered the damage inside the garage, and called police. Detectives identified the 19-year-old man as a suspect and found him at his Boise home on Tuesday after he did not show up for an interview there Sunday. The case has been routed to Ada County prosecutors, who will make a charging decision.
