A 19-year veteran of the Edwardsville police force is accused of having a second career as a burglar. Police brass called in the Madison County Sheriffs department last week when Brian Barker was suspected of robbing a beauty salon cash register. Investigators say they linked Barker to a string of other burglaries at Edwardsville businesses stretching back at least two years, including some for which he was the responding officer. Hes been suspended without pay and dismissal procedures are pending.
