A 26 year old man from Sparkhill, Birmingham has been arrested on suspicion of attending a terrorist training camp in Pakistan. The man was detained at Manchester Airport on Friday evening after he arrived on a flight from Lahore. He is believed to have been in Pakistan since leaving the UK in 2010, and suspected of attending the training camp in 2011. He was taken to a police station in the West Midlands and questioned by officers from the Counter Terrorism Unit before being released this evening on conditional bail. Det Supt Shaun Edwards, head of investigations for WM CTU, said: “This was an intelligence led arrest. The man was not detained because there was any immediate risk to the public. “The suspect has been released with strict bail conditions while we continue with our investigation.
