A 29-year-old Warren man has been arrested and charged with 17 offences following a police operation involving officers from Darling River and Kings Cross. Strike Force Scaler was established by detectives from Darling River Local Area Command to investigate the alleged armed robbery of a service station on the Oxley Highway at Warren on Tuesday 1 April 2014. Police allege two women and a child were in the building about 8:45pm when a man wearing a black balaclava allegedly produced a .22 calibre rifle and demanded money from the female service station attendant. Police allege the weapon was discharged into the front counter of the service station during the incident. The man left empty-handed. Following investigations by detectives attached to Strike Force Scaler, a 29-year-old man was arrested in Kings Cross about 9pm on Wednesday 7 January ). The man was taken to Kings Cross Police Station where he was charged with 17 offences including robbery whilst armed with a dangerous weapon (attempt provisions), being carried in stolen conveyance, several fraud-related offences, and resist arrest. He was refused bail to appear in Central Local Court yesterday Thursday 8 January . At this appearance he was bail refused to Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday 4 March 2015. Inquiries into the identity of a second person believed to be involved in the incident are ongoing.
