A $3.7 million payment to cover cost overruns on the reconstruction of Prince Street in downtown St. Paul’s Lowertown was approved by the City Council on December 17. However, the 6-0 vote does not mean council members were happy with how the project’s price tag more than doubled from $3.3 million to $7 million. The cleanup of contaminated soil is being blamed for most of the cost overruns. For the full story, see the December 24 issue of the Villager.
