A 3-page circular from Ghana International School to all parents - TopicsExpress

A 3-page circular from Ghana International School to all parents on Ebola reads: The most simple prevention method during an outbreak is to not touch patients their excretions, bodily fluids and contaminated materials. Therefore, the likelihood of transmission within the school setting will be very low. So how can one tell who a patient is? They offer this advice: Parents should not send any child who has a fever or symptoms of flu to school, they should be sent to the hospital. All students should bring their own water bottles for use in school. The school will emphasize to students the importance of thorough hand washing. Parents should provide their wards with personal hand sanitizers. The school will, however, augment this by providing a few sanitizer stands around the school. The school will provide an isolation tent to initially detain suspected febrile cases before transfer to the hospital. The school will amount an educational drive, involving all students, staff and parents. All comforting. I hope GES will ensure that this will be standard practice in all schools...
