A 31-year-old Monroe man is behind bars after allegedly sending an email to a Louisiana state representative threatening danger if the lawmaker didn’t support marijuana law reform. Roy Green of Monroe said in the email he “would personally see to it that your office and livelihood are placed into danger,” unless the representative supported the marijuana legislation, Louisiana State Police said in a press release. State police received the complaint from the legislators Baton Rouge office, and Green was arrested Thursday (March 13) on extortion charges. Green reportedly told investigators he didn’t remember sending the email, “but that he did post the message on Facebook.” Green now faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted. He was booked at the Ouachita Correctional Center.
