A 33-year-old LaPine man was seriously injured Saturday after crashing head-on into a tree in a residential area west of Highway 31, about eight miles south of Highway 97 in Klamath County. The man, whose name has not been released, was driving a 1981 Ford Bronco on Birchwood Road attempting to turn onto Sun Forest Drive at 1:17 p.m. when he left the roadway and hit the tree. He was transported by Crescent Rural Fire Protection District to a landing site, where LifeFlight took him to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. According to Oregon State Police, the man was not using safety restraints.
