A 500 lb. Leatherback sea turtle was rescued off the coast of Provincetown, MA. The endangered sea turtle was spotted in distress and having difficulty surfacing for air due to the numerous pounds of fishing gear it was towing by a rope wrapped around its neck. Glad to hear this big guy received assistance and is was not seriously injured. Leatherbacks are endangered and are the largest of all sea turtle species. They can measure upwards of 7 feet in length and weigh up to 2,000 lbs.! At these sizes you may be surprised to know, they favorite food, jellyfish!
