A 77-year-old female is found unconscious at her apartment. She was last seen 16 hours previously. She is intubated without medications at the scene for a Glasgow Coma Score of 3 and brought to the hospital. On head computed tomography, she appears to have had a large stroke. Her past medical history includes high blood pressure and glaucoma. Her baseline creatine (CR) is 1.1 mg/dL. Labs reveal that her CR is 2.4 mg/dL and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) is 60 mg/dL.
