A BAD INFLUENZA , A BAD FLU It was a fantastic months on November/December! Dejah Gomez was in town to visit with her family for the Thanksgiving holiday and she was shooting some shots with the upcoming documentary/video with the Producer/Director, Darren Cole. Mr. Cole wants to film an interview with Dejah and me on my condo, and afterwards we will discuss the future at The Penensula, The Lobby. With Un-D-Nyable Entertainment, Inc. I signed her when she was 14 on 1997: Dejah, Krazy - m.youtube/watch?v=HzbFU1Qpfrs. At the dinner, we did agree to continue the journey. We will write some songs and I will produce her in the studio with my good friend Bob Bennett studio in Evanston. Dejah has her own voice to todays sound. There are a lot of females and male singers whom mimic the melisma, improvise favorite singers. And its sounds the same. Thats fine, but its not distinct. With Dejah, she is her own voice. She can whisper the lyrics and you want to know what shes saying, so youre going to get a little closer. And she can belt the lyric too, but shes not a shouter, so setback, relax and enjoy all of your senses. Her lyrics are engaging, thoughtful, compassionate with all of the emotion with the song that you expect but with her own style. Her sound is mainstream. Her voice, her music are urban, Rock , R&B, Alternative, all in one. And it’s current. It’s a new voice. Heres Dejah sound: dejahgomez/posts/ I was in my cousins house in the suburbs and theres a shot with my #1 Aunt Carrie at Christmas. All was enjoyed. It was December 26, and I proceed the basic things that I do everyday: exercise, food shopping, cook, etc. Now this is hazy. I know I had an idea, a song for Dejah, so I reached over with my night stand and pick it up with my iPhone and hum for melody and the beats. With me and my brain I see notes, instrument, key change, etc., everything. With you, probably you don’t here it. But I can see everything. It was four minutes. I will finish it some other time and send it out to Dejah and she will write lyrics, melody and whatever. Then we will record it. And then I turned it off and laid down and sleep. The next time I saw Marcus Wolfe, a good friend of mine, and the ambulance persons were my condo. But I know this, Marcus call me but I have no memory because the flu got a hold of me, but my mother was there and she guided me every step of the way like she did in her bosom inside with me. The only thing that I remember was the ambulance staff said “Which hospital?“ and I said “Northwestern”, so the next time I was in the hospital bed. In 1999 at Northwestern Hospital after the stroke my company, Un-D-Nyable Entertainment, came to visit me. That night I had the first, but not the last though, a seizure. From 1999 to now, I had seizures at least three times a year with an ambulances and a hospitals. In Maui it was once a month at least, thats why when I move I said “I will work it out so its tolerant. And I know the medicine was affecting the performance. So I said no medicine, something natural way. Usually I didnt trumpeted about it. Is just one of the things now that I have to do, like Aphasia, or the right side and left side are not sync, or my body is very painful every minute of the day. But Im grateful. Besides God says “Theres a job to-do, so do it.” (See “Lost and Found”, A One Man Play by Paul David Wilson about living with aphasia.) I was in the hospital for nine days, six days for Northwestern and three days of The Terraces at The Clare, Rehabilitation Services and Amenities. I wrote this for Ruth Ratny: “It was a bug, an influenza, or a flu, but it was a bad one. In my notes I have to go back because in the late fall I believe my doctor and her nurse gave me a shot for influenza. Also, Im very fit so three days tops Im out of the hospital, not nine with three in the rehab. Im not dying! Oh, by the way, I was bored so I brought my flute (my flute is a little rough but I can still play) and one of the “Guest” I serenade her! Right now, I have to prepare for doctors appointments. For a while I was groggy. You know the doctors prescribing some “stuff but now Im fine because all of my system was out. All of them. My systems are healthy not the other medicines. In two and a one half weeks Im heading to LA. I have some tickets for the Grammy (A long time ago I was a trustee and the president in Chicago), but I will call you and will go to lunch because Im still working on your movie! - Paul” Marcus Wolfe s wife, Arcalia Guerrero, his daughter, Maria and his son did visit. Marcus was a life saver. And besides, he adopted me like another brother, long ago. Ben Counts came by often and his wife, Rita Lanier came by too. And thats helpful because Rita had a business degree but now shes a nurse. She was very helpful and thoughtful. Ruth Ratny came by and we chatted for an hour. Tom Burrell came by too. My brother, Herb, was impressed! We just chitchat, you know, chitchat. But I have my exclusive: hes going to write another book! So I was the number one exclusive, nobody else!!! At The Terraces at The Clare, Lee Montgomery (the voice of “Calling Me Home Chicago”), said he was going to stop by. But he didn’t say though Jan Zechman, of formally Jan Zechmen Associated, in hand, but he was there! That was special. You know, Jan and I have an annual Cubs Game seats, so Im looking forward for this. With my mother, Odessa, one of the task was naming the boys. I was wondering how come he name James Warren for the first and then Herbert Liston, Jr. for the second instead of the reverse. But in 1948 she knows the personality, even that time. Herb was there in the hospital and then at the home. He was there for all of the doctors appointments too. Im not stubborn but I dont like the prescription because its not necessary. There is another way. But Herb was there and he was a good negotiator with the doctors and me. Before my doctor wrote six subscriptions. My body was just going and going and going. When I was walking in my mind I was walking lop sided, I cant think and I cant remember, and I cant do that! So Herb talk with me and the doctors so now its just one subscription in my body, and one subscription with my eyes. I have glaucoma. But I’m aiming for my body with a natural way again. But glaucoma though, thats another story. I will keep taking a glaucoma drop. And one of the doctors is studying my brain, specifically seizure. Carmen came to the rescue! You know it is now reverse. Parent/daughter is reverse now. She lives in Atlanta with my grandson, but came here in Chicago and they did stay for a while and I appreciated. She knows that I dont like subscription so she looked in the Internet to take some other ways. Beyond advocating overall health and wellness, (ie. clean diet and exercise) these centers implement alternative and natural treatments directed specifically at the problem ( ie. mitigating the re-occurrence of seizures/stroke.) And I have the service now, Life Alert, so shes happy! I wrote this again with my stroke: “God said to me, “Hold on, Time out!! Come here. I want to talk to you.” And so my journey began. Hmm., this is heaven, eh? With Heaven, there is no time and space just Heaven. No days and years just Heaven; No dawn and dusk, no light and darkness just Heaven; There is no pain, no pain, no pain just peace and love infinite…..Heaven! I had no voice, but I can hear and understand. God said, “You didn’t listen to me, so you’re going to listen now.” I had no voice but I understood. So, obviously I listen. And then God said, “You have a job to do, so do it. You’re going back to Earth because it’s not time. Now, it’s going to hurt, but it will pass. There’s an angel and she will guide you, her name is Odessa.” God sent me back to Earth. New life!” Theres a lot of ways to serve God. Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers for me.
