A BIBLE STORY BOOK LUCIFER (Isaiah 14:12-15; Ezekiel 28:12-15; Isaiah 43:10) (Dedicated to my Grandchildren) By Ed Abraham My dear Little Ones, I am writing a book on Bible stories with all of you in mind. I would like to tell you, first of all, the story of Lucifer. Apart from that of Samson, it is one of the saddest stories ever recorded in the Bible. It had a wonderful beginning and yet it ended in misery and failure. Lucifer was a mighty and beautiful being. He was a cherub or an angel created by Jesus. He was one of God’s most trusted angels. As the covering cherub, his duty was to protect the throne of God. Hosts and legions of angels were under his command. God favored him and gave him talents that exceeded the other angels. He was also given a dominion and a throne. He was greatly intelligent and excelled in the arts and music. He was an eloquent speaker. For his talents and all the gifts that God bestowed on him, we could be thinking that he should be the most contented and the happiest of the angels. But he was not. Instead of being thankful, he became proud and vain. Discontentment ruled his heart. He wanted more and thought that he could have more. He wanted God’s throne. He wanted to be God. But that was impossible. He was only an angel, a being created by God for a purpose. He was to serve God. But he did not want that. He wanted other creations to serve him too. He wanted to exalt himself above the creations of God. Therefore he rose in revolt and made war with God. He wanted to take God’s throne and power. He convinced one third of the hosts of heaven to join him in his cause. But Michael, the archangel, led the rest of the angels and defended heaven. The fighting was terrible and was carried to Lucifer’s dominion. As a result, Lucifer’s domain was destroyed. Michael and his angels won. Lucifer lost the war he started in heaven. Lucifer and his angels committed an unforgiveable sin against God. As punishment he and his fallen comrades were cast out of heaven- away from the light of God and into darkness forever. And so he became Satan, God’s arch enemy. Today, Lucifer still looks up to heaven. He still has that desire to return and take the throne of God. But the hosts of angels within his command are not enough. So he is recruiting other beings- HUMANS to augment his forces. Just what does he promise them in return? THEY SHALL BE GODS. And he appears to be succeeding, because a large part of mankind has already joined him. A movement is now going on and this movement’s goal is for its members to become Gods. When the time comes these combined evil forces will bring about ARMAGEDDON, or the end of the world. However frightening this picture may appear, there is hope for the faithful saints of God. Jesus will wage a final war against Lucifer and his evil forces. And He will win and defeat him. He shall imprison Lucifer and his demons in a fortress of darkness where escape is impossible and He shall cause Satan’s evil human allies, those WHO DESIRED TO BE GODS, to be thrown into a lake of fire and brimstone where their torment shall be forever and ever. And what is the moral story in this my little ones? Our destiny is to become faithful children of God in the most beautiful and happiest of kingdoms there will ever be: Christ’s kingdom. We should not desire for more. We should never listen to Lucifer’s lies and empty promises no matter how tempting they might be. The great Truth, my little ones is: we are but humans, created by God for a purpose. We are not destined to become Gods like Him because He is the only God there is and there will ever be. Never dream of becoming one. Rather, dream of being with Jesus and becoming the Father’s children in that wonderful place called Heaven. Love in Christ forever, Your Grandfather
