A BRIEF HISTORY OF TIRWUN Tirwun Village has existed for hundreds of years with long history of peaceful co-existence before the advent of Mal Abdullahi Dadi who ruled for 27 years from 1780 - 1807. Twelve rukers from his Lineage succeeded him i.e;- 1. Muhd Dosa = 25yrs - 1807 - 1832 2. Maliki Dandosa = 24yrs - 1832 - 1856 3. Ahmadi Babba = 20yrs - 1856 - 1876 4. Sarki Isa = 2yrs - 1876 - 1878 5. Sarki Maina = 6yrs - 1878 - 1884 6. Ahmadi Karami = 16yrs - 1884 - 1900 7. Maigari Dan Yakubu = 2yrs - 1900 - 1902 8. Sarki Hussaini = 9yrs - 1902 - 1911 9. Alh. Ibrahim Maina = 33yrs - 1911 - 1944 10. Mahmudu Ibrahim = 27yrs - 1944 - 1971 11. Alh Shehu U. Mahmud = 40yrs - 1972 - 2012 12. Alh Ahmad Muhammed = 2012 to date The Gerawa tribe is belived to have originated from Tirwun which is therefore their ancestral home. The serene environment coupled with the hospitality of the Gerawas of Tirwun made it possible for many tribes from various states of the federation to acquire property and settled down. It is home to the resuscitated Barkumbo Water Complex, five secondry schools, a number of tertiary institution. It is the headquarters of the newly created Tirwun District under Bauchi Emirate. It also houses the Gubi Housing Estate popularly called GIDA DUBU . . . .
