A Bachelors Guide for making Jacobs Famous Roasted Butternut Squash with Bacon and Red Peppers Soup Recipe (for those of you who asked about this): Well, see...I didnt start with a recipe and I didnt keep track of my movements during this incident. Basically: - Cut a Butternut Squash in half and cook it for a long time in the oven. Make sure the ovens really hot. - Later, use a pair of socks or maybe a towel or a couch pillow to remove the pan from the oven. DONT try to take it out with your bare hands. I tried this and it sucks. Super bad idea. Really. - Okay, then scoop most of the cooked squash guts out and put them in a blender. Try not to drop any of the scalding roasted squash skins on your cat. They hate that. - Start pouring in a little bit of various half-empty bottles of condiments from your fridge door. (Note: a LITTLE bit of Horseradish Sauce goes a LONG way) - If you have any bacon, fry it and chop into small pieces. Throw at least the crumbs left on the cutting board into the blender along with the squash guts and whatnot. Wipe the bacon grease off your mouth. - Some time the next day or sooner, if you remember, blend the mixture for the length of one commercial break during the Walking Dead or football. - IMPORTANT: before eating any of this soup, put a quart or so in a large bowl and feed it to your cat. If he/she doesnt die, then give the rest to the neighbors and call it something Martha Stewart-ey ( Harvest Butternut Squash Soup will get you started, but embellish from there).
