A Belgian Trade Union strike will be going on Monday, November 24 in the Belgian provinces of Hainaut, Luxembourg, Antwerpen and Limburg. As a result, the following services will be affected: - All American Section schools on SHAPE will be closed. All staff are also advised to stay home and if possible check emails. Make sure to have your up to date emergency roster with you in case of any new information. - There will be no trains, busses, starting at 10 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23 through 10 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 24 in the above provinces. This will also have affect on the national and international trains. As a result, traffic on Belgian roads will be increased. - Trade unions may be blocking roads, mainly the roads giving access to commercial/industrial areas. - Stores will be closed. The Grands-Prés commercial area in Mons will be closed, Cora and Delhaize will also be closed. Other stores that decide to remain open, may be blocked off by trade unions. The SHAPE Carrefour should remain accessible. - Belgian schools will be closed but child care will be provided. - Belgian hospitals will be at minimum staffing - City halls will be closed - Recycling centers will be closed - The Charleroi Airport will remain open but trade unions have already announced that they will block access. The schedule of upcoming strikes are: Dec. 1 in the provinces Namur Liège, East and West Flanders Dec. 8 in Brussels, Walloon and Flemish Brabant Dec. 15 has been announced as general strike throughout Belgium.
