A Biblically Supported Idea by Rick Warren “Heaven and earth - TopicsExpress

A Biblically Supported Idea by Rick Warren “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” (Luke 21:33 NIV) Many times we wonder if an idea that came to us is instruction from God, a deception from Satan, or just something we want to do. It is extremely important to know the difference and how to discern God’s voice, because it can have eternal consequences. A lot of evil gets blamed on God when people say, “God told me to do it!” The Bible says in 1 John 4:1, “Don’t believe every message you hear just because someone says it’s a message from God. Test it first to see if it really is” (LB). Does the idea you’ve got in your mind right now agree with the Bible? Because God’s will never contradicts God’s Word. God doesn’t say one thing and then change His mind and say another thing. If He said it, it’s true, and it will always be true. God is consistent. He isn’t moody. He doesn’t change His mind. He will never tell you to violate a principle that He’s already given in His Word, the Bible. So the first question you need to ask is, “Does this thought line up with what God has already said?” If what you have in your mind contradicts something that God has already said in the Bible, then you know it’s wrong. Jesus said in Luke 21:33, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away”(NIV). God’s Word is eternal, because truth never changes. If something was true 5,000 years ago, it was true 1,000 years ago, it is true today, and it will be true 5,000 years from today. People might say, “God said it; I believe it; that settles it.” No! God said it, and that settles it — whether you believe it or not! If God tells you to do something, then he’s never going to contradict it. The first question you must answer is, “Is this idea in harmony with the Word of God?” Power Verses: Amplified Bible Luke 21:32-33, 32 Truly I tell you, this generation (those living at that definite period of time) will not perish and pass away until all has taken place. 33 The sky and the earth (the universe, the world) will pass away, but My words will not pass away. Psalm 119:152, 152 Of old have I known Your testimonies, and for a long time, [therefore it is a thoroughly established conviction] that You have founded them forever. Matthew 5:18, 18 For truly I tell you, until the sky and earth pass away and perish, not one smallest letter nor one little hook [identifying certain Hebrew letters] will pass from the Law until all things [it foreshadows] are accomplished. Just A Thought: This command is given to all Christs disciples, Take heed to yourselves, that ye be not overpowered by temptations, nor betrayed by your own corruptions. We cannot be safe, if we are carnally secure. Our danger is, lest the day of death and of judgment should come upon us when we are not prepared. Pray always: those shall be accounted worthy to live a life of praise in the other world, who live a life of prayer in this world. May we begin, employ, and conclude each day attending to Christs word, obeying His precepts, and following His example, that whenever he comes we may be found watching. Memory Verse: Matthew 24:35, 35 Sky and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. In Reflection: ● God knows the end from the beginning. ● He is without limit: He exercises control over the furthest reaches of the world, and will bring to an end earthly powers, human life and the present age. ● Those who persevere to the end will be saved. ● God is without limit. ● God is the Beginning and the End. ● God brings earthly powers to an end. ● Reliability is the quality of consistency and dependability which is the basis for confidence and reliance. It is exemplified by God in His changelessness. ● God’s character and nature are reliable . ● God is faithful to His covenants. ● God’s love is reliable. ● God’s promises are reliable. ● God’s presence is reliable . ● God’s strength and protection are reliable. ● God’s Words are reliable. ● Truth in Scripture is more than mere veracity. In the Old Testament it is a moral concept, grounded in the being of God Himself, which embodies the ideas of faithfulness and reliability, while in the New Testament the concept widens to embrace the ideas of reality and completeness.
