A Bit of an Announcement... Tis going to be quiet round here - TopicsExpress

A Bit of an Announcement... Tis going to be quiet round here for the next four weeks. See, I work for an Ultra Powerful Shipping company, which means Ill be spending the weeks leading up to Christmas processing and sorting all of the STUFF you guys buy online. What will my week look like? Ill tell you. It aint pretty. Tomorrow, Sunday, Ill be rising at 7:00 am. Ill leave for work at 8:30 and arrive for work at 9:30. Ill be there all day. Think Im kidding? Im not. Ill probably be finished somewhere between 10:00 and 11:00 pm. Yes, thats potentially a thirteen and a half hour day, with an hour for lunch (which can be shortened to half an hour, at my employers discretion) plus ONE ten minute break. Its a tiring job, one that requires me to quickly sort packages, many weighing well over one hundred pounds. Thats what Ill be doing on Sunday. Ill leave the house at 8:30 am and, hopefully, return before midnight. What will I be doing Monday? The same exact thing. Ill also be there Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Thats a six hour work week, in which Ill probably exceed seventy hours. Oh, I get paid handsomely. Tomorrow, Sunday, Ill be receiving twice my normal pay for the whole day. The rest of the week Ill get my normal wages, plus time and a half for anything over eight hours. Im going to make a shit-ton of money, so I really shouldnt complain... However, Im only going to have three days off between now and Christmas Eve. The kids are upset because theyll only see me for an hour and a half each morning before I leave. And I wont be seeing the missus much, either. I wont be able to help out much around the house, nor will I have time to do anything I enjoy, such as writing material and posting stuff to this page. Content is going to be slim to non-existent. If you message me, dont count on a reply. Im just not gonna have time for it. The holiday season doesnt bring much joy around here. Whilst everyone else is doing fun holiday things and spending quality holiday family time, our family life grinds to a halt as I make others Christmas wishes come true. So, let me just give a quick shout-out to my fellow package processors, the folks racking-up the hours in retail, and everyone else who spends The Most Wonderful Time of the Year away from their families. I see you and understand what youre going through.
