On November 1, 1950, in his Apostolic Constitution “Munificentissimus Deus,” Pope Pius XII promulgated as a dogma revealed by God that: “Mary, the immaculate perpetually Virgin Mother of God, after the completion of her earthly life, was assumed, body and soul, into the glory of heaven.” For all of my Catholic Facebook friends, please remember that this is a holy day of obligation and so that means that you need to attend Holy Mass. I know that many parishes will have extra masses on this day so that the faithful can attend. When I was at the Vatican Museum in Rome, I saw many magnificent works of art depicting the Assumption of Our Lady. Here are just a few of them.
