A Brantford man is in critical condition in a Detroit hospital after falling about 40-feet and landing on a hard surface following a concert last weekend. David Bull, a powerline technician with Brantford Power, was badly injured as he was leaving a Beck concert at the Fox Theatre in Detroit just over a week ago when he apparently fell over a railing. “Hes in really rough shape,” his friend and co-worker Ryan Hantz said Sunday. “Theres some swelling around his brain but theyre not sure the full extent of his injuries. “Apparently. the only broken bone he has is a vertabrae.” Hahn couldnt say for sure how Bull was injured but noted that news reports out of Detroit said Bull and another man were leaving the concert when Bull said he was going to take the easy way down. The bottom line is that Bull is badly injured and needs help, Hantz said. “Hes a loving father, a son, a brother and a great co-worker,” Hantz said. “He is the kind of guy that can lighten the mood with just a couple of words, a guy anyone would be happy to call their friend.” Hantz said that Bull’s co-workers and family are devastated by what happened and are reaching out to the community for support. They are trying to raise money through an online campaign at youcaring/davidbull . Money collected through the initiative will be used to support Bull’s young son, Carter, spouse Tracey Swanson and whoever else needs help to visit him in Detroit. “I know theyre trying to get him moved back here but I think theyre trying to get him stable first,” Hantz said. “Its pretty costly to stay at a hotel for months on end. And being a Canadian in an American hospital isnt the same as being a Canadian in a Canadian hospital. “The treatments are similar but there are a lot of extras that OHIP is not there to cover.” [email protected] twitter/EXPVBall
