A Brilliant comment from a Post by Larken Rose, on Moral Culpability..... Lucas V Powell As a former soldier, I can attest to this first hand. Following orders really is no excuse for committing atrocious acts for the state. Unfortunately, thats exactly what people are taught in the military. Follow orders, dont question anything and do your job. Now, of course they do define unlawful orders and offer a little bit of legal wiggle room for the ordinary soldier to object to such commands (more of a legal dog and pony show ), but guess what... Theyve already put you in a situation where you have to choose to obey their orders (unlawful or not) or, disobey and risk sacrificing yourself or your comrades. In most cases, disobeying an order, even an obviously unlawful order, will brand you a traitor regardless of whether or not you have the moral high ground. This is a catch 22 for anyone who may break away from the herd and start thinking for themselves. Its easy to sit back and criticize people for using the classic excuse of just following orders. As reprehensible as it is, its not as easy as one might think to choose between whats morally good and whats not. Especially when youre being told day by day that youre the good guy and theyre the evil brown people. I truly believe that reaching out to these people peacefully and talking to them is the best way to deprogram their way of thinking. After all, thats what happened to me. Just a former soldiers perspective. Thank god I snapped out of it and got the hell out. As for the ones giving the orders, theres no damn excuse. 14 hours ago · Here is the post.... https://facebook/LarkenRose/posts/788495797850938
