Heber Joseph Miller was a Sergeant for the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He died on November 02, 1967 at the age of 24 from an unknown accident. He drank Geaorge Dickle Black and PBR in a can A Viet Nam Vet that fought for the promised land He lost thousands of Brothers and Sisters as well In that dank dark jungle that was so manys personel hell He took shrapnell to the leg his Sgt.a bullet to the chest These American Soldiers that honored us with thier best Semper Fi my Brothers as he is carried from that dirty asian land Clenching a warriors momento in his bloody hands Slowly a tear is brought to the brink As he downs the last swallow in the nights last drink Payin his tab he heads to the street For theres a bridge and destiny that he has to meet Sitting astride his faithful ol pan He pulled something from his leather it lays in his hand numbers stampped on a small silver plate Clenchin his fist he mumbles its never to late He kicked his sled she thundered to life Pullin from the curb of that hot August Ohio night Heading 37 south from Buckete Lake to Lancaster slow Thinkin about this plan that started back in Can Tho Puttin past exit signs for a lake and some ledgend in the valley Draped country signs that read Pleasantville Rally To fulfill a promise to his Brother Heber Joseph Miller way back then Out alone heading west the pain from that jungle will finally end As he pulls from his vest pocket that dented up tag of his friend From his saddle bag he pulled a loaded silver gun followed by a map that needed unfolded and hung Walking back to his sled her lone headlight aglow Semper Fi my Brother he hesentantly squeezed the trigger slow Bullets smashed into that Vietnamese map Hitting every place they were at Tears rolled down his road worn face as he arrived at that ol mills bridge to fullfill that promise he made Looking from the old covered bridge into that pool of waterbelow he lets that dented silver plate go tearfully he gets out SEMPER FI my Brother its never to late
