A Buffalo and I- a brief Zen moment Forty five years ago, I was traveling from to Nagpur by the Grand Trunk Express to visit my wife and family. The train halted briefly at a godforsaken spot seventy kilometers short of Nagpur. Looking out of my window, I saw a buffalo standing in a pond, with just its head outside the water. The buffalo also seemed to be looking at me. The animal looked the picture of contentment, with an expression showing total peace with itself and the surroundings. It was havng a zen experience, living in the NOW, denied to many seekers. There was I rushing for a short visit to my family and full of tension. And there was the buffalo relaxed in a supreme state of nirvana! One could not but feel jealous!
