A CALL FOR PARTICIPATION This Saturday, a group of writer/photographer friends as well as lovers of creative writing and I shall be engaging on a writing/photography expedition on the campus of Obafemi Awolowo University. This is to better help budding, passionate writers and photographers appreciate the gifts of nature. We are in a quest to discovering the undiscovered by seeing through the human minds, human eyes and camera lens and words, and giving meanings to meaningless objects and images. We will do this by exploring our subject community, taking photographs and translating their meanings both in pictorial and in letter meanings. Our task is to see and understand nature, attempt to define it and see its prospects and how relevant it might be in the society. In line with this, we shall consider two subject communities; the community created by nature itself, and that created by man. Similarly, through the lens, we shall capture societal ills, repairable and irreparable ones alike, and proffering possible solution. At the end of the exercise, our objective is to help open the writers/photographers imaginative eyes and enhance his descriptive skills. As such, the platform is designed in a manner that a photographer shall pair with a writer as a team. Each team, though working collectively with other teams during the tour, will submit its works at the end of the entire exercise. While the photographer and his pairing writer shall decide on what object(s) to focus on, the former shall however photograph such objects while the latter makes a creative writing on/about such objects. Participation in this project is absolutely free and open to interested individuals either as a writer, photographer or a lover of literature. The project is not financially rewarding and it is based on voluntary interest of participants. Interested participants can join us this Friday, 17th of October, 2014 to attend the sensitisation meeting at the faculty of Law basement by 3pm prompt.
