A CHALLENGE LIVING IN CHINA so yesterday I went to mail 4 packages. took over an hour to carefully pack, prepare and wrap to mail. used TONS of tape - all nice n neat. I get to the post office (1 semi English speaking employee) they want to open and INSPECT all packages. WHAT?!? after all my work. Left -called UPS who wanted $131 US to mail a 1 lb box the other two weighed over 5 lbs each. UGHHH back to post office with tape, sissors etc. opened, repackaged, retaped and off they all go for $200 US dollars. Then to bank to deposit a check. first girl no English - frowns. Second girl broken English, at first does not speak to me and makes about 6-7 phones calls.. I translate google her I want to make a deposit in our account. No reply. another phone call - sitting - SITTING - ANOTHER PHONE CALL - talk to coworker. I ask what the problem is and she writes in Chinese (which I cant read) I have to go to a larger branch office to deposit a check! REALLY?! Later. Life in Shanghai!
