A CHRISTMAS BONUS: Here’s a lovely solo piano rendition of “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” by jazz virtuoso Bill Evans. Recorded in New York on January 10, 1963, it was originally released as part of the boxed set, “Bill Evans: The Complete Riverside Recordings,” and later on “Bill Evans: The Solo Sessions, Vol. 2” for Milestone Records. The producer of this legendary session, Orrin Keepnews, wrote, “Just about everything Bill Evans ever played had substance and importance. This was certainly true of his recording session on January 10, 1963. That evening in the studio, which was Bill’s first full-scale attempt at a solo piano album and which came at a time of considerable upheaval and inner turmoil in his life, resulted in a body of music that was emotionally revealing and stylistically quite unlike anything he played at any other time.” https://youtube/watch?v=ohFNLF_8Dik
