A CLEAN SWEEP…The Trillium gang arrived at Roseneath Fairgrounds - TopicsExpress

A CLEAN SWEEP…The Trillium gang arrived at Roseneath Fairgrounds for the Morgan Show today. After an early morning rise, driving along Country Rd. 9 as the mist rolled over the fields, it would turn out to be a long but rewarding day at the show. I’m so very proud of our girls and horses. We won every single competition we entered in as well as the championships. We came home with ribbons galore and a treasure chest of perpetual trophies. On route we had to pull over and move Mystic to a different stall on the trailer. She was having difficulty riding on a wall side as she began to scramble. We are not sure but it seemed to have caused a chain reaction as both Secret and Rapture were steaming when we arrived at our destination. We immediately pulled off their show sheets so they could cool before the line classes. Carrying the Trillium banner was Trillium Victoria Secret winning the mares class while Trillium Moonlit Rapture garnished the gelding’s class red ribbon win. Lucy lined both horses for me and is gaining more and more experience each time out in the show arena. In the driving class, Trillium Moonlit Rapture redeemed himself from his last competition at Lindsay Fair. He handily won the pleasure driving class going on to win the Champion Driving Horse titled yet again. (He won the perpetual trophy in 2012.) I could tell it was a good round when the whoots and applause from the spectators gave us a resounding two thumbs up win as we did our victory pass. Back at the trailer it was Rebekah and Melanie’s time to shine. It would be Hylee’s Anything Goes day! She won every class including Champion Hunter English Pleasure. Her Road Hack class was just a class act. It’s hard to beat Miss Abbey’s (aka Hylee’s Anything Goes) big extended trot. Startrend Mystic Visions was a bit overwhelmed with all the distractions of a fall fair. Melanie settled for second place ribbons. Mystic’s hiccups on the reverse still plague her at times. We changed strategy which helped for a bit. Melanie was a very brave rider in the midst of all the chaos around her. You just can’t duplicate the midway and yodeling over a loud speaker filtering in to the horse ring from the bandstand next door. It’s a busy fair and really tests a horse and rider’s nerves. Mel held it together and took the compliments and constructive criticism from the judge when given. It was a really tough day with the heat, noise and long waits between classes. Back at the farm, Dan cleaned every stall in the stable. Ashlyn later came by and together she and Dan did all the evening feed so we wouldn’t have that to content with that on our return. What a bonus! I would especially like to thank our volunteers today. They included Pauline, Tanya, Kirsten, Gail, Kim, the Shield family and even Scott’s boss, Julie who attended the horse show and cheered on Mel and the rest of the Trillium team. It was a great time with fellow competitors from both the Morgan world and other breeds. The new horse ring is a welcome addition to the fairgrounds thanks mostly to Bruce Murray and his board of directors hard work.
