A COMMUNIQUE RELEASED BY THE NANS ZONE- D AT THE CONGRESS HELD ON 21ST SEPTEMBER, 2013 AT ADENIRAN OGUNSANYA COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, IJANIKIN, LAGOS. The South-West leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students held a congress massively attended by the conscious rank and file of students from the various institutions within the zone. The congress which attracted firm solidarity from other Unions of progressives like COEASU, ASUU, ASUP, JAF, ERC and other Socialist Ideologues had the attendees united in their recognition of the unfortunate deterioration in the Nation’s Education Sector, the urgent need for the revamping through government’s unconditional honouring of the 2009 agreement signed with ASUU. The congressmen were undivided and resolute in their description of the FG’s agents claim that the demand for the revitalization of the education sector is capable of shutting the nation down as unwarranted and groundless. The congress attempted an informed analysis of the Nigerian national treasury found that between 2000 and 2011 the Nigerian government earned the whooping sum of #48,48 trillions from the sales of oil alone against the #3.10 trillions earned between 1979 and 1999, and in the year 2012, the Federal Inland Revenue Service(FRIS) alone generated #5.12 trillion as revenue from tax payed by the masses; and therefore concluded that the enormous wealth and resources of Nigeria should translate to a commensurate improve
