A Cadillac man is in critical condition after an assault in downtown Cadillac. Police were sent to investigate the assault on July 11 around 1 a.m. on the sidewalk in front of the Roaring 20’s Saloon. Officers arrived and found the 32-year-old Cadillac man with severe head injuries. The man was transported to Cadillac Mercy Hospital and then transferred to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City where he is listed in critical condition. Witnesses report the perpetrator of the assault jumped into the air and stomped onto the victim’s head with his feet while the victim laid on the sidewalk. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. A suspect was questioned and arrested by police 15-hours later. He is expected to be arraigned in the 84th District Court in Cadillac this morning. Police are unsure of the motive for the assault and the incident is still under investigation.
