A Call For Sobber Reflection. Almost every nock and cranny in Asaba the Delta State Capital has a part/element of refuse dump. This is because of negligence/failure of the Enviroment Ministry under Frank Omares watch, to leave upto expectations and carry out his responsibilities as the helmsman. And also the failure of Oshimili South LG to execute it constitutional responsibilities. Most residents in Asaba have employed the services of private waste collector. But that is anchored on various governmental failure and blind to their responsibility. Ordinarily, people ought not to have been turned to local govt of their own after payment of taxes to the govt. Government ought to make provisions for adequate refuse disposal, this is because, as population increases on daily basis, and the people out of economic meltdown find it difficult to enployed the service of private waste collector, they automatically turn every available space close to them to refuse dump. Govt on their part has continued to show their cluelessness on the issue. It will be recalled that the rubbish removed from various gutters in Asaba are still left along the roads, eg, opposite Grand Hotel. Thereby making the roads more narrow. Sadly, when their is a visiting dignitery, then will the state see reasons to remove them, and get the roads painted. Meaning they are: Pharisees, and blind guides! Most streets in Asaba have become unpassable, whareas, the various streets were given to persons with certain percentage accorded to them, in terms of maintainance. However, if the local govt Chairmen are sensible enough, it would have been easy for them to maintain those streets without spending much. Since the street owners are supposed to perform about 50%, residents, 20%, and the LG,30%. Then the street owners most especially should be compeled to leave up to their expections, then the LG will follow suit. Any street owner who fails, should Relinguish the street to interested parties. With that, various street will not have been in a Life Support Machine as they are presently. Various govts helmsmen both @ the state and LG level should pulse for a while and ask themselves what they have achieved for the betterment of the people and society, if not, they should recall that after the Race, the Miles will be counted. Then, posterity enters the court for judgement!
