A Call for Discernment: True Vs. False (Prophets, Teachers, Ministers, Disciples, Believers, Christians) [TRUE] Pauls Appeal (1Thessalonians 2) You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine. (Titus 2:1) 1. Does not spring from ERROR. IMPURE MOTIVES. Trying to TRICK you. (v.3) 2. Not trying to PLEASE MEN but GOD. (v.4) 3. NEVER used FLATTERY WORDS. Put on a MASK to cover up GREED. (v.5) 4. NOT LOOKING for PRAISE from men, not from YOU, or ANYONE ELSE. (v.6) [FALSE] Prophets, Teachers, Christians. Jesus warned us, Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in SHEEPS CLOTHING, but INWARDLY they are FEROCIOUS WOLVES. (Matthew 7:15) How are these people like SHEEP? 1. By their SMOOTH TALK and FLATTERY. (Romans 16:18) 2. Having the form of godliness but denying its power. Always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. (2 Timothy 3:5,7) 3. These men are GRUMBLERS and FAULT FINDERS. They FOLLOW their own EVIL DESIRES. They BOAST about themselves and FLATTER OTHERS for their own ADVANTAGE. (Jude 16) A false prophet is known by two things; the fruit they bear, and the gospel they preach. ~Paul Washer Test EVERYTHING.. (1 Thessalonians 5:21)
