A Call to Action, or What’s up with the Once & Future - TopicsExpress

A Call to Action, or What’s up with the Once & Future Podcast? Hang in there... this might take a minute. You may have heard whispers in the halls of the bookiverse that the much missed and beloved Once & Future Podcast will be returning this fall… and I’m here to tell you those rumors are indeed TRUE! Now, please bear with me a moment while I explain just what has been happening/what will be happening. Since the twins arrived at Castle Strout last year, time has become a premium thing to be had. Who knew? What free time I have had has been dedicated to getting word count in on my books, but the thing I’ve missed most outside of that is producing the podcast. In order to make Once & Future work going forward, I’ve decided the show needs to go with a sponsorship model if its going to sustain itself in the future. Im already busy researching what companies are going to fit best with the type of show I want to produce. I only want to have sponsor content that is relevant to my own and/or our audiences interests… things I am passionate about, filled with geekery or booky goodness. So I’m hoping to get all that rolling with the launch of Season 3 this fall. Nothing too intrusive, but something to justify the time spent producing the show that’s also a benefit to Clan Strout. If it works for Nerdist and WTF, why not O&F? One of our very recent issues has been the show’s ENTIRE disappearance, thanks to what I’m calling the Great GoDaddy QuickBlogcast Purge of 2014 (insert your own ‘GoDaddy, really?!’ comments here). With little warning, they service cancelled all podcast feeds and statistics, which not only took the episodes out of my website, but killed the iTunes feed. Poof! All of it gone, just like that. After talking to my podcasting pals, I’ve migrated the show to the much more reliable structure of Squarespace, and it’s been delightful if not exhausting. Once more, all of the past episodes are now up on theonceandfuturepodcast/ as well as back on iTunes. However, all of the listener love and statistics proving the show’s worth are gone. So I’m asking for a little help here, to sort of revalidate the show to the greater public so that when I launch Season 3 it doesn’t happen in a complete vacuum. I realize this may be asking a lot, so do feel free to ignore me, but there are several ways in which you can help rebuild the Death Star that is our nerdy little show. The super easy stuff: Go like us at: https://facebook/Once.And.Future.Podcast and on twitter: @OandFPodcast That’s where most of the information on future shows will be laying down. Authors: The greatest way for former guests to help right now is to share and point people to the episodes you were on. I’m trying to rebuild some semblance of our metrics and make sure eyes are front and center as we push forward into season 3. As far as the new sponsorship model goes, if you think your publishers should be putting you in front of our listeners, have them contact the show at onceandfuturepodcast@gmail. Listeners: There are a few things that would help us, actually. First, go to iTunes and Subscribe to the podcast. All our old metrics were trashed when the Quick Blogcast service was pulled from my web host, so it’s like day one for us all over again. Second, rate the podcast. We lost all that too. Third, if you recall episodes you really enjoyed, please give those individual ratings. We’re hoping to rebuild the lost empire and all this will truly help. And last, share the love. Let people know which episodes were your favorites. Use your Jedi Mind Tricks to bring them on board. From the bottom of my nerdy little heart I appreciate any time you put into this big push towards Season 3. I look forward to bringing you more of the science fiction and fantasy books and authors that YOU want to read! Sincerely, Anton The beloved guests of our past (whose episodes you should check out): Charlaine Harris, Jackie Kessler, Paperback Dolls, Jim C. Hines, Amber Benson, Jeanne C.
