A Christmas Message from Father Seamus Through the Incarnation, - TopicsExpress

A Christmas Message from Father Seamus Through the Incarnation, God has broken into history in an unprecedented way. God, of course always takes the initiative. He is the one in search of us and he never tires of trying to get our attention and capture our spirit and imagination. That is a mind boggling statement but a reality nonetheless. That is the greatest reality show of all time. On our part all we have to do is to remain open and available to the incoming spirit of God. That openness expresses itself by engagement in and through the body of Christ. Our baptism is the doorway through which we pass to this new life in God. All of us have been uniquely created, each with his or her own gifts and strengths. This diversity is what makes us the people we are meant to be, not independent but rather dependent on each other and on the God that created us and who holds us in existence every moment of every day. I hear people say that they believe in God but they don’t subscribe to organized religion. I often wonder if they realize that there is no other kind of religion but organized religion. God calls as a people, a people with Christ as their head. He is the one who leads us, shapes us and molds us as members of His body. There are two ways in which we can go. One is my way, like the Sinatra song, and the other is, God’s way. There is no doubt in my mind which is the better way. Once again we celebrate the birthday of our Savior and let us allow ourselves to be enveloped by God’s unrelenting and overwhelming love. My sincere thanks to all of you who have shared this faith journey with me and who have encouraged and supported me by your remarkable embrace of God’s love for all his people. God’s blessing upon you and yours this Christmas and in the New Year. Sincerely, In Christ, Father Seamus
