A Commentary (not from me): *1 Corinthians 1:12-13 / *1 Cor. 1:12 - (Re: *Denominations / *Calvinism) Believers shouldnt be identified or identify themselves as Calvinists or Arminians, or as any other man-made denomination (1 Corinthians 1:12-13; 1 Corinthians 3:4), but should simply be Christians (Acts 11:26b, 1 Peter 4:16). (See 1 Corinthians 1:10 above) Arminianism is mistaken insofar as it asserts that it is the individual who chooses to initially believe. In fact, it is God who grants his miraculous gift of faith (Ephesians 2:8, John 6:65; 1 Corinthians 3:5b, Romans 12:3b, Hebrews 12:2) only to certain individuals whom, from before the foundation of the world, he had already ordained/elected/chosen/predestined (Acts 13:48b, Romans 9:11-24, Ephesians 1:4-11; 2 Thessalonians 2:13) to become initially saved at some point during their lifetime. Calvinism is mistaken insofar as it asserts that once the elect get saved, it is impossible for them to ever lose their salvation. In fact, saved people can ultimately lose their salvation (e.g. Hebrews 10:26-29, Hebrews 6:4-8, Matthew 25:26,30). Also, Calvinisms doctrine of limited atonement is mistaken because 1 John 2:2 shows that Jesus sacrifice was sufficient to forgive the sins of everyone, not just the elect.
